50 Most Influential Christians in America

The list is out. This site will tell you who are the 50 most influential Christians in America. The real question is, does our understanding of influential mirror the Bible's definition? If a widow's mite is the standard of giving (all you have), is it enough to say that a tithe is exemplary? If prayer moves the hand of God to change things, can a prayer warrior claim the same kind of "influence" as a Christian who leads a church of 12,000?

How many did you recognize? I knew 41 out of the 50. And who are Paula White and Marcus Lamb? Any of you heard of these two? Just some food for thought.

  • Marcus Lamb is "president" of Daystar TV network; he's a very extreme televangelist who is copying the "Jim and Tammy Bakker" model of the 1980's.

  • To me, the examples you gave are examples of obedience that result in influence. The only way I can be influential in God's eyes is to walk in obedience to Him with humility. God is no respecter of personalities. A Sunday school teacher in a little country church in the middle of nowhere could be more influential in God's eyes than a mega church pastor who relies on his talents rather than the power of God.
