Saving Money at the Gas Pump

Gas prices are going through the roof and the summer season isn't even started yet. You can expect the price of gasoline to go up right after Memorial Day. What can you do about it?

Well, there are some myths that need to be busted about gasoline usage. Some of the myths were true at one time, but new technology has made these obsolete.

Christians should also be concerned about gas prices but for other reasons beyond just the price. Gasoline is not a renewable resource. Sooner or later we will run out. Supply will not meet demand by as early as the year 2029. That means the price will get higher than ever.

What are you doing to conserve gas? What are you willing to do in order to address this ticking time bomb?

  • Current price increases are due to refinery issues. The point about the depletion of a finite resource is understood. However, back in the 1970's is was stated at our current rate of demand for oil, we would run out by the year 2000. During the period between 1970 and the year 2000 oil companies used newly developed technology and techniques to obtain oil in areas previously considered impossible. They also discovered new oil fields through advances in geological science. It is my estimation that "necessity is the mother of invention" and while we all know that oil is finite we may be supprised at what new discoveries science will yield toward our ability to find and recover new sources of oil. Ultimately, when new sources of energy become cost effective to produce, you will see us slowly diminish our need for oil. Read the articles on mining the moon for helium 3 for creating electrical energy from fusion. It has none of the radioactive byproducts of current nuclear fission. Mining the moon? Closer than you think.
